In terms of size, Hallig Hooge ranks only second among Germany's holms. Uniting breathtaking landscape with rich tradition and a couple of see worthy cultural assents, Hooge nevertheless enjoys an undoubted reputation as "Crown of the Holms". The holm counts 120 citizens living on nine dwelling mounds ("Warften"). These provide a safe place during storm tides which use to overflow Hooge several times per year.
Hallig Hooge is a perfect holiday destination for everybody who looks for a break from daily routines and hectic life. You can happily lose yourself on Hooge. Just close your eyes and listen to the seabird's cries… open them again and enjoy the big views… enjoy amazing sunrises and sunsets, wander along the holm under wide open (and often blue!) skies. Hallig Hooge is a beautiful place with unspoiled nature and an authentic atmosphere. Visitors may take part in local life and enjoy Frisian hospitality. And children may use Hallig Hooge as an immense, exciting playground. It is the combination of nature, culture, hospitality and tranquillity which turns Hooge into a superb year-round holiday destination for the whole family. Welcome!
