Excursions to Amrum
If you want to experience and enjoy the North Sea to the full, there's no way around Amrum. Kilometres of knee-length sand, fresh air and plenty of space await you here - for surfing, walking or swimming. Do you long to leave everyday life behind and switch off completely? No problem: you can walk comfortably on boardwalks through the high dunes of Amrum and listen to the surf. This is relaxation for the soul!
In general, the island can be easily explored on foot and without a car - the W.D.R. buses make sure of that. Those who prefer to get on the saddle can also look forward to it: two well-signposted cycle paths take you off the road to all the beautiful destinations. Bicycles can either be hired directly at the jetty in Wittdün or you can bring your own.
include the Amrum lighthouse, whose beacon, at 61 metres above sea level, is one of the highest on the German North Sea coast. Don't miss the opportunity to climb the 297 steps to the viewing platform: It's worth it! Because from the top you have a fantastic view over the neighbouring islands and the Wadden Sea.
The day trip to Amrum is subject to visitor's tax. You can obtain day visitor tickets either at the tourist information centres or online here. It is not necessary to print out your digital day visitor ticket if you can save it digitally and show it on your mobile phone.
