THE GATEWAY TO SCANDINAVIA

Trips to Denmark

Would you like to take a trip to the Danish mainland? With the W.D.R, the neg and ARRIVA, you have the opportunity to explore two of the most beautiful places in Denmark on a day trip.

Tønder

Just a few kilometres behind the German-Danish border is Tønder, a small Danish town that is not only a delight in summer. Are you looking for that authentic hygge feeling that our neighbours are so famous for? Then you've come to the right place. With its unmistakable charm, the beautiful pedestrian zone, the many shops, cafés and especially the "Old Pharmacy", Tønder invites you to stroll and relax. You can pay in euros almost everywhere here.

The day trip starts in the morning in Wyk with a ferry crossing to Dagebüll. From there, take the neg train to Niebüll, where you board the Danish "Arriva" train. This will take you to Tønder, where you get off near the pedestrian zone. After five or six hours, you return the same way.

Ribe

As the oldest town in Denmark, Ribe is rich in history and fascinating buildings, most of which are very well preserved. First and foremost, the cathedral, whose predecessor was built in 860 by Ansgar, the "Apostle of the North", is an attraction worth seeing. In the Middle Ages, Ribe was the country's most important North Sea harbour - today it is known for its charming old town, the late Gothic town hall and the Dominican monastery.

Your day trip begins in the morning in Wyk on Föhr with a ferry crossing to Dagebüll. From there, take the neg train to Niebüll, where you change to the Danish railway "Arriva". This will take you to Ribe. After three or four hours you return the same way.

Fancy a Scandinavian flying visit? The W.D.R. ships will take you to Dagebüll, from where you can continue your journey by train. Tickets for these excursions are available from the W.D.R. ticket counters.
